Coronavirus All you need to know about symptoms and risks

At the beginning of 2020, all the news channels and social media posts talked about Coronavirus.

A virus whose epicenter is Wuhan’s wet market, China, soon became a global crisis. Yes, no one was prepared for it. And no one thought it will reach far-flung countries like the Philippines and the United States of America. This virus was officially named SARS-CoV-2. And the disease that it leads to is known as COVID-19, which is coronavirus disease 2019.

Coronavirus is a deadly virus. However, you will not get COVID-19 unless you come in contact with a person who has corona.

Know Everything about Coronavirus

What you should understand about Coronavirus is that it is zoonotic. The virus is found in animals.  It gets transmitted through them and starts growing in human beings. If someone is infected, they can transmit the disease through respiratory droplets.

So far, researchers believe that the primary source could be bats. The virus is transmitted to other animals, such as pangolins and snakes. And then, the corona is transmitted to human beings.

Corona Symptoms

It is clear by now that Coronavirus is deadly. And once transmitted, it can make a human being suffer from a vast range of severe symptoms. The symptoms are very similar to seasonal flu. Some of the common corona symptoms that you should know about are as follows:

  • Body aches
  • High fever
  • Cough
  • Trouble breathing
  • Runny nose
  • Sneezing
  • Sore throat
  • Headache
  • Chills
  • Fatigue

Corona Risks and Threats

You can get Coronavirus from someone who has the virus. You have to receive the droplets to get the virus. Droplets can also exist on surfaces and objects. Once someone touches them and immediately touches their nose, mouth, and eyes can get the disease.

People with underlying medical conditions, older people, and kids with the low immune systems are most vulnerable. Hence, those who are 65 years and above, and people suffering from long-term illness are at risk. Not that other people can’t see or have severe complications after being contracted with the virus.

There are reports where a perfectly normal 45 years old male who goes to the gym regularly has died because of Covid-19. It is deadly, and the worst that can happen to someone is dead. Other than that, you will face severe challenges while breathing. The virus duplicates itself fast and attacks your respiratory function. This is the reason why patients infected with Coronavirus receive oxygen or kept in ventilation.

Other than that, people with the below symptoms are at risk also.

  • Chronic lung diseases
  • Asthma
  • Severe heart condition
  • Someone with HIV or AIDS
  • Severe obesity
  • Diabetes
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Liver disease

If someone sees signs and symptoms of covid-19, please seek medical assistance right away and get yourself tested. Isolation and quarantine are the key to keep yourself and everyone else safe. People with corona symptoms must see a doctor.

How is Coronavirus Diagnosed?

If you have symptoms, get in touch with your local health department. And get yourself tested to limit the transmission. The tests conducted for Covid-19 is done by using tissue, saliva, and blood sample. However, in most of the test centers, a cotton swap will be taken and will be inserted inside your nostrils.

Covid-19 tests get done by commercial companies, CDC, as well as health departments. They have test kits, and they use them to identify the virus. Do remember that you may not see any signs and symptoms until the 14th day.

Coronavirus Prevention Tips

The best way to stay away from getting transmitted to the Coronavirus is by limiting your contact with people. Stay away from people who have signs of Covid-19. If anyone tells you about their symptoms, please advise them to see a doctor right away. As soon as you see symptoms, visit your doctor and get tested.
